The 5 Biggest Questions Headed Into The Mavs Season

CosasTotum’s own BlazeFrye will be bringing you a harder hitting, more detailed, slightly better Mavs preview tomorrow but don’t kid yourselves and save yourself some time, these are the only 5 questions that matter and the only answers (answer*, really) that matters. Enjoy.

  1. Did the Mavs do enough during the offseason to compete for a Western Conference Championship? An NBA Championship?

Look up the new names, look at their stats, be impressed. Or not. Doesn’t matter. Kristaps Porzingis’ play and health is the only thing that matters this season for the Mavs.

  1. Will Jason Kidd really make that big of a difference?

I’ll answer your question with a question. Is Porzingis healthy and a facsimile of Bubble Zinger? If so, then, yes, Kidd will make a difference because a good Porzingis is the only thing that matters this season.

  1. Will Luka improve his free throw shooting?

The one thing left for Luka to master and I’m beginning to worry that it will never happen. Is it all in his head? I mean, the guy has touch, good form, can shoot from anywhere on the court, and guts. What else do you need to be a good FT shooter? But that doesn’t matter. Porzingis returning to at least 80%? 85%? of what he was in New York is the only thing that matters.

  1. Is Josh Green an NBA player?

How cool would it be to have a young, cheap 3 and D wing to put next to Luka but instead we’ve got Josh Green who is… young. We don’t have any evidence that he can play in the NBA just yet. He plays hard, sure, but so does that 40 year old bald guy in your adult rec league. Just playing hard and having a cool Australian accent ain’t going to cut it in this league, Jack. But that doesn’t matter anyway. The only thing that matters is how good and healthy KP is this year, whether he plays hard or not.

  1. Will Luka win the MVP?

He will if KP is good. Book it. Go Mavs. But go KP more.
