Have you ever had a lot on your mind so you go take a shower to clear your head, but then you spend so much time working through your problem that you forget where you were in your shower routine so you try to surreptitiously smell yourself to see if you’ve already applied soap, then wonder why you did it surreptitiously because you’re the only one in there, then you finally remember that at the end of the day the worst thing that happens is that you apply shampoo twice, which isn’t such a bad thing, really, so you just go ahead and restart your whole shower routine? No? Yeah, me neither.

Do you think actor/comedian Jerry Seinfeld could have been a successful cast member of the TV sitcom 'Friends' if he wasn't already the star of his own show at the time (Seinfeld)? -

I’m willing to bet that 60% or more of the pictures on my phones are memes that I find and save and then forget to send to people.

If you work in an office that doesn’t supply you with writing instruments, that’s a huge red flag. I found out recently that one of my friends works in an office where the employees are expected to provide their own writing utensils. All of them. Pens, pencils, Sharpies, even dry erase markers. Isn’t that insane? And it’s a normal, white-collar, 9:00-to-5:00 job. Absolutely bonkers.

This Christmas reminded me that we have, once again, missed a huge opportunity for a Dr. Who/Dr. Seuss crossover Christmas special. Think about it. The Doctor lands in Whoville and finds the Grinch, who has been breaking into little Who houses and stealing stuff in the dead of night…aided by the Daleks! It’s perfect. Missed opportunity.

It makes sense that we generally choose white paper as the default for writing and printing, but wouldn’t it be crazy if we didn’t? Like, what if the norm was to print white ink on black paper? Or maybe even stick with blank ink but print on some light-colored paper like yellow or pink? It’d be crazy!

Can you imagine finding someone who survived the Titanic and taking them on a modern cruise ship (assuming, of course, that the survivor had somehow managed to live into their 130s)? They would have gone from a ship with Edwardian furniture and iron workout equipment to some behemoth that has a go-kart track, rock-climbing wall, several twisty waterslides, and a 2,500-seat theater all on a boat that is taller than the tallest buildings they would have ever seen before World War II.

“Swarm” and “soirée” have the same first sound, and that is…pretty weird.

One thing about working in an office is that eventually you get really good at sending the firm-but-polite follow-up emails that some people need to actually get things done.

According to a recent study, statements beginning with “according to a recent study” are likely to be perceived as fact.

Airports are the best places to get a morning buzz and impulsively buy a book of crossword puzzles from a kiosk.
